I started life as a classical and experimental musician, so my early writing centered on music. But my musical impulses have always been intimately bound to my experiences in the natural world of Florida, where I grew up, and to which I continue to return. Believe it or not, a Mozart Scherzo and a mosquito’s whine can be discussed in the same essay.
